In a funk

Looking forward to Saturday. is flying over and we're off to see Marton Csokas onstage in Company B's production of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?. Should be fun.

Marton Csokas and Catherine McClements

The Sydney Morning Herald has a nice piece on it too, if you're interested.

has been ever so good with us, posting loads of pix from Comic Con. Here's one of my faves from one of her previous entries:

And David Hewlett is going to be a dad! Awww! His other half looks lovely.

And thanks to that little animation a friend sent my way, I've now discovered this great French musician and I frankly can't get enough.

Here's Yann Tiersen. Check him out.

For the Clive Owen fans out there, I stumbled across this site yesterday when I was trying to figure out what Privateer 2: The Darkening was exactly. It's a game, somewhat part of the Wing Commander franchise, and like, say, Tiberian Sun (Command & Conquer), it contains video clips to move the plot along. Anyhow, for anyone who wants to see a rather young looking Owen without having to buy and play the game (which probably doesn't even run on XP), this site has all the cinematics downloadable in one neat ZIP file. It also has PDFs of the storyboards, press kit, preview booklet and manuals. Just scroll down the page. A real treat. :) Thank you, CIC News!

Sirius and all that jazz

Palmed off Lily on the neighbours and headed out to the cinema to see Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix.

I was a bit apprehensive because the last movie was so long and dragging (and overall not very good at all) but I was pleasantly surprised with this one. Wow. Good pace throughout, not overly long either, good storytelling, and I just loved the CGI and special effects. A good balance of spooky and drama and humour. I really enjoyed it, probably as much if not more than the first one.

For those who don't know, I don't read the books. Hubby does and books 4, 5 and 6 were going downhill in his opinion so he was happy to see that this movie was only based on the fifth book. It made it better. Much better. Now he might just pick up number seven afterall.

And oh... that's me, totally smitten by Gary Oldman's Sirius Black. ::grins::

Other than that, I feel a bit swamped and Lily is teething (back molars) and consequently very clingy. For those of you who saw my message/post either on OSA or the RPGs about taking a step back for a while, it's nothing life-threatening or anything. There's just some unforeseen sh*t that needs dealing with, that's true, but our departure is also due to some real work coming our way and we need to get it done. But thank you for your concern and thoughts.

Night-night, everyone.

Faffing around

Nabbed from

Your Score: The Wolf

Here's your results! Your spirit animal has a Nobility ranking of 12 out of 18.

Your spirit animal is the wolf. It is a ferocious companion, and a loyal friend. It is both a respectable and noble creature; to have this spirit animal says good things about you, and that you are starting to figure things out. Wolves are pretty rare spirit animals.

***Wondering how this animal was chosen for you? These questions were carefully thought out to see how important you hold certain virtues such as: humanism, self-knowledge, rationalism, the love of freedom and other somewhat Hellenic ideals. Some of the questions were very subtle. Your score was then matched with an animal of corresponding nobility. However, you shouldn't think this was a right/wrong sort of test, but more of an idealistic values test. It's ok to not hold these values, you'll just get an animal spirit of lower stature if you do!***

I should be writing a couple of RPG posts. I should be doing the dishes. I should be starting on that leek and potato soup I've got planned for dinner. I should be vacuuming and scrubbing the floors and, you know what? How boring would that be?

Eye Candy

A discussion on 's LJ made me go and visit Mallozzi's blog again and lo and behold, who do I find a few posts back, cheeky Flan Man. I don't know what it is... he doesn't really do it for me, not like, say, Momoa, but...

Joe Flanigan

Cuteness. Is it the hair? Must be the hair, and that twinkle in his eye. :D

And stumbled on another hottie on my way to bed...

Clive Owen
(800 x 1200)

I don't think I'd ever seen that one before...

On this note, good night!

Goodies!

Karl Urban talks about Out of the Blue

has capped some of the the extras from the recently released movie Out of the Blue. You can find them here.

I'm disappointed that it had such a limited release last year and that I missed it on the big screen. Oh well. Out of the Blue, aka Aramoana, is a about New Zealand’s worst mass murder, which took place in 1990. Not a jolly subject but it is said to be very well portrayed and brought to the screen with sensitivity and respect. My copy is in the mail, I've been told, and I can't wait.

Another cold is sweeping through the family. This time hubby brought it home and Lily caught it from him. I managed to hold on a week and a half but between two snotty noses and all that coughing, I finally succumbed on Sunday night. It's been a slow week. Sinus headache and general crappy feeling. That's about it. Hope you guys are doing alright.

Lazy Tuesday

Here's another one for you:

Actually, watching Lily trying to follow is pretty entertaining. Everybody clap...
And we're going out again tonight. Wow, we're on a roll. A little bit of Garcia, Izzard, Clooney, Pitt, Pacino & co should be just what the doctor ordered.

It's still so early!

Blake's gone into labour. She's not even 34 weeks yet! She did expect a premature birth as it runs in her family, so at least she was mentally prepared for it but still... I hope all will go well and little Savannah will come out strong.
