It's Boromir the Fair after all

Wow, it's been a while...
Oh, well, no time now - but for this:

your match is boromir!
The proud son of a steward, Boromir of Gondor is
the one for you. A bit distrustful and too
focused on his own purposes, the Ring's first
prey... but at heart a good guy, who doesn't
mind being tackled by Hobbits every now and
then. And he sure knows how to fight and die
with honor. To you, the second movie seemed so
empty...

Your Life Line reveals that you like to travel, but will always return home. You need a lot of space which is why you prefer spending time outdoors. You tend to have strong romantic tendencies.

Your Head Line reveals that you lack confidence, but have a sense of grievance. You carry a chip on your shoulder, but will vent this emotion through participating in political activities.

Your Heart Line reveals that you have a masculine nature and are easily aroused by your own desires. You are able to maintain a good balance between the physical and emotional sides that accounts for your warm and generous disposition.

Your Fate Line reveals that the early years in your life were full of hard knocks, teaching you that success comes from hard work. Due to this learning process, you will have a late start with your career and financial independance.

Your Sun Line reveals that your personal success and achievements will come from one of your original ideas or breakthroughs in technology.

You have an Fire hand. You are a person who is restless, outgoing, ambitious, confident and at times promiscuous. Your optimal career choices are to work as a lawyer, politician, entertainer, and an athlete in non-contact sports.

What can I say?

These are weird times. My mind has been a lot of things lately. Can't seem to focus on anything for long let alone keep up with my LJ and my friends'.

It's Friday here, early evening. They're throwing a party at work but, as some of you know, I work the evening shift so I can't join in. But since we're not that busy, I'm indulding in a glass of nice Australian shiraz. They can sue me if they're not happy with that. ;)

Dear Marie, I do hope your health is on the mend.

And Claudia, I've been travelling with you by proxy. I hope you got home safely. You still need to give an account of your last few days. I guess that goes for you too, Viv. How did you two get along? I was so excited for you both!

Nausica, keep me posted. You know what I'm referring to. And you still haven't told me his name.

As for the rest, it's been a weird last few weeks, as I was saying. Lost my godfather and now it's an uncle. He too was only 56. Another pair of cousins left to mourn him. I wish I was in my homeland. My mom is freaking a little, she'll be turning 56 too. I mean, does anyone believe this things come in threes superstition?

Rob's health is also playing up. We're waiting to hear from the cardiologist.

I really need to get my hands on that TTT: EE. Is it coming out this weekend? I could do with some of the 'more' options Claudia was going on about.

But it is Friday. Let's finish this shift in a few hours and head home.

A good weekend to you all.

I was asked to pick my month and cross out what isn't me...

From :

FEBRUARY:
Abstract thoughts. Loves reality and abstract. Intelligent and clever. Really? Changing personality. Attractive. Sexy. Ha! Temperamental. Quiet, shy and humble. But I can be loud too, if you get me going! Honest and loyal. Determined to reach goals. Yeah, all except giving up chocolate! Loves freedom. Rebellious when restricted. Damn right. Loves aggressiveness. Now, how did they know that? Aggressive lover? Oh, yeah. Some times. Too sensitive and easily hurt. Gets angry really easily but does not show it. Right. Ask anyone who knows me. It takes a fair bit to piss me off but I'll definitely be showing it. If I'm driving then all bets are off. Dislike unnecessary things. Loves making friends but rarely shows it. Daring and stubborn. Ambitious. Realizing dreams and hopes. Sharp. Loves entertainment and leisure. Romantic on the inside not outside. Superstitious and ludicrous. Spendthrift. Tries to learn to show emotions. No need for that.

Bad news

Don't think I'll be getting into it here but got some really bad news around 3am - yes, a message from Canada, the dreaded kind, death in the family - and I wasn't able to get to sleep after that. Anyway, totally not inspired for a LJ entry today. So, I'll go for a silly quiz instead. Actually, the result warmed my heart, so sue me.

Diddled

We're losing an hour this weekend. That's a whole hour of time off. So much for daylight saving. Let's turn the clocks forward. Gives a new meaning to time, doesn't it? Nothing is constant - not even time - and it's all relative. Just like flying to Oz from Canada. You lose two days... which you gain back on your return trip. But what if you only bought a one-way ticket? What kind of trade is that then?

Got up this mornin', minding my own business... actually, it was closer to noon but that's irrelevant... and I stumbled on this site. OMG

I saw it. I did what I said I'd do and caught a flick at the Fox Studios Hoyts cinemas. What I saw was irrelevant in comparison to the treat I got in the trailers. Yes. RotK. I didn't even know it would be there. Never expected a thing. *sigh*

And as it turns out, The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen is quite forgettable. Shame 'cause it started well - promising, even.

It's Friday

You'd think that's enough to send everybody into a frenzy, right? But no. Here in Australia, it's also the opening of the Rugby World Cup 2003. Big deal. Not to me but it seems to be for everyone else on this continent. The city is in mayhem! Meatheads. Can't even drive home at the moment even though I get to have an early night... I think I'm gonna walk to the theatre and catch a flick.

Been a while...

Flat out even though we just had a long weekend - Monday was Labour Day. Not much to report. Didn't get to do half of what I was hoping for but managed to clean the house and do my back in. Yay! Right.

Went to see A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday. Very enjoyable and the third act was a riot. My sister-in-law's last Christmas gift.

Anyway. I'm annoyed. Don't know why exactly. Can't sleep. Can't write. Can't seem to relax. Even when I hear good news, like Karl's new project, it doesn't lighten up my moods. I'm cursed.

To see or not to see

At the mo, we're getting one big US production opening a week...
Pirates of the Caribbean two weeks ago, Tomb Raider 2 last week and this week it's The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Anyone knows if it's worth it? The vibes I've caught so far are less than positive. Anyhow, it's the kind of film that, if worth seeing, I'd rather see on a big screen. So please, peeps, gimme your two pence worth.

Day-o, day-ay-ay-o

Work all night on a drink a´rum
Daylight come and she wan´ go home

Can't complain. Things have finally started to move at work. Alexander the Great has come to town. Yay!

Caught up with two trailers over the weekend - besides the much talked about RotK. Anyone has seen Underworld and Matrix: Revolutions? What did you think? I realise that Underworld has already been released in most part of Arda, but alas not here yet so all I have to go on are the trailers...

Another thing, watched the first EP of the mini-series Carnivàle. Anyone else seen this? Weird, eclectic and quite not sure how to size it up yet. Might download the next EP.

Anyway, better get back to it.

Brownies (since there weren't any Mississippi Muds)

Just received this from a friend in WA... and it's pretty bang on for me. Let me know about you, would you? So, what's your cake?

~
Cake personality test.
If you were buying a cake and you had your choice of the following, which would you
choose? No cheating. Pick your cake, and then scroll down.

Angel food
Brownies
Lemon Meringue
Vanilla with Chocolate Icing
Strawberry Cheese Cake
Chocolate on Chocolate
Ice Cream
Carrot Cake

OK - Now that you've made your choice, this is what research says about you! NO.... you can't change your mind once you scroll down! So think carefully. No peeking until you choose!!! Done? Now, scroll down . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Angel food ... Sweet, loving, cuddly. You love all warm and fuzzy items. A little nutty at times. Sometimes you need an ice cream cone at the end of the day. Others perceive you as being child-like and immature at times.

Brownies ... You are adventurous, love new ideas, are a champion of Underdogs and a slayer of dragons. When Tempers flare up, you whip out your sabre. You are always the oddball with a unique sense of humor and direction and like to make people laugh. You tend to be very loyal.

Lemon Meringue ... Smooth, sexy, &articulate with your hands, you are an excellent after-dinner speaker and a good teacher. But don't try to walk and chew gum at the same time. A bit of a diva at times, but you have many friends.

Vanilla with Chocolate Icing ... Fun-loving, sassy, humorous. Not very grounded in life, very indecisive and lack motivation. Everyone enjoys being around you, but you are a practical joker. Others should be cautious in making you mad, however, you are a friend for life.

Strawberry Cheese Cake ... Romantic, warm, loving. You care about other people and c an be counted on in a pinch. You tend to melt. You can be overly emotional and annoying at times.

Chocolate on Chocolate ... Sexy, always ready to give and receive. Very creative, adventurous, ambitious, and passionate. You have a cold exterior but are warm on the inside. Not afraid to take chances. Will not settle for anything average in life. Love to laugh.

Ice Cream ... You like sports, whether it is baseball, football, basketball, or soccer. If you could, you would like to participate, but you enjoy watching sports. You don't like to give up the remote control. You tend to be self-centered and high maintenance.

Carrot Cake ... You are a very fun loving person, who likes to laugh. You are
fun to be with. People like to hang out with you. You are a very warm-hearted person and a little quirky at times. You have many loyal friends.
~

It's Friday!!!

Feel better, sowewhat rested.

The temp got up to a whopping 28 degrees today and it's barely Spring. They're forecasting 36 for Monday. I think I'll be hitting the beach.

Big Star Wars assets sale on the Fox lot today. Of course, by the time my shift starts, there wasn't much left. :(

Anyhoo, currently shooting tests for 'Happy Feet', one of Mr. Elijah Wood's upcoming projects and one of our all-computer animated flicks in production. IT's about penguins, if anyone wonders.

Not much to report today. Elfnut has gone AWOL, Viv will be off limits this weekend so maybe I should do the same. Could I actually turn off all the comps in the house and not log on to the web for a whole weekend? Right. Ha!

Marie, enjoy l'ete des Indiens.

Damn migraine

It's colouring my whole day - and my mood.

Went to physio today and was having a chat with the remedial masseuse... made me totally lose faith in the world. (And my mom wonders why we don't have kids yet!)

There's this couple who split up in May this year. The husband carries on stalking the wife though they've agreed to separate. He's violent, abusive and her only defence is a restraining order. Like that ever stops anyone. But no lawman wants to take this any further. He's no real threat, they say. Last week (could be the week before), he shows up at her place, attacks and rapes her then leaves. She finds her way to the police station to report the assault, leaving the kids with her own father. Well, while she's out, the estranged husband returns... The wife comes home, accompanied by police officers, to this scene: the supposedly 'restrained' husband has stabbed both his (and her) children to death (aged 2 and 4, if I remember correctly) and also murdered their grand-father before turning the knife upon himself. I mean, WTF? And we just sit back, absord the news as normal.

This is so close to a CSI Miami EP I watched last night, it's disturbing.

Wow, I guess that was a rant.

A new breed

Hey, what do you know? A new super-hero hits the streets... of London.

I bring thee, the Angle Grinder Man.
I kid you not.

From my Animal paddock

Big rush of stuff to do when I came in this afternoon but it's now dying down... nearly to a trickle. Oh, well. (I'd rather be busy, makes the night go faster.)

For those who wonder about the subject of this post, it's to do with the name of the company I work with. Anyhoo, got some good news earlier.

A friend of mine and I get together on Saturdays to watch some movies or TV series. Yes, there's usually some drooling involved - especially going through fourteen Sharpe movies.

MutantX and Andromeda used to be our excuse but now Andromeda's new season isn't showing here yet (I mean we're over a year behind everybody else!) and we've given up on MutantX. I'd still do nasty things to Brennan but that's beside the point. Anyway, we need something else for when there's no new flicks to rent or whatever... and we'd settled on torturing each other. Her with some supposedly best DS9 episodes and me with a bad Michael Biehn movie, The Ride. But we both got saved today when my friend received her DVDs of Children of Dune mini series. Was nearly walking backwards to the weekend but I'm really looking forward to this now.

Anyway, better get back to it.

Oh, and here's that URL for the Talk Like A Pirate Day. It's coming up, this Friday, 19th September.

Tuesday, September 16, 2003

And a new day!

I actually survived the experience and I'm back.

First thing's first... a little disclaimer. Sweet Angel just reminded me in the nicest of ways that there are some Québécois around so I feel I should point out that both pictures I'm using - La Maudite and La Chasse-galerie - come from Unibroue, a micro-brewery from Québec. One of their beers is themed on an old folk legend that always fascinated me...

La Maudite has a typically Québécois name that is reminiscent of the legend of the Chasse-Galerie. The legend has it that a group of lumberjacks struck a deal with the devil to fly home in their canoes, guided by Satan himself, to make it home in time for Christmas.

So there. And now, I better get my behind to work.

And thanks for the warm welcome, y'all!

Taking the plunge as it were...

Alright, here I am. Not sure why I've decided to go along with this but maybe I've just got this little pretentious streak that makes me think someone would care to read my brain spills.

It's late so more tomorrow, I guess.
