Four more days

A few things happened last week that I'm pretty happy about. I went to see a different optometrist (for those who remember what happened with OPSM last time will know why) to see if I could go back to contact lenses. Wearing glasses is really not my thing. And while it made more sense to wear them when I went on maternity leave and then after the birth so I could easily nap when the bub did too, it's no longer the case. So anyway, the guy checked my eyes out and apparently all is good. He can still see some signs of the condition I developped last year but it's all cleared up now. So I'm trying new contact lenses as I type this! In fact, I've got them since last Friday afternoon and you don't know how free I feel! :D It's a two-week trial period after which I'll go back to see him (or sooner if there's problems) and we'll try another brand or two to make sure I get the perfect fit. 

I can only wear them about six hours a day at the mo - he wants to ease me back into it carefully - but so far so good. This is great news because of the other thing that happened this week...

I was allowed to book my trip to Brisbane, and even if it was getting ridiculously late to do so, I managed to get some good and (fairly) cheap flights too. Rob had been against the idea but he finally relented in the eleventh hour. So now I'm all set to go - only need to pack. It's going to be my first weekend away on my own in a long, long time, and also my first ever trip away from Lily. I don't know how I'll cope. I'm flying out Friday morning (should be fun at the airport with all the APEC crap) and coming back Monday lunchtime. (That's three nights without me girl!) Should be fun. A gang of women getting together to talk fandoms, watch movies and TV shows and enjoy the Queensland beaches and weather. Last time we did this was back in 2004. We're due. :)

Anyone went to that Dragon*Con? I've seen some pix and wow, I would have loved to be there. Look up
