Cabin Fever

We're entering what... Day 14 of monsoon-like rain plaguing New South Wales? It's driving us insane. I'm all for rain and the gods know how much Australia needs it but could we get just one day's break? Lily wants to go out, and understandably so. Every time the heavy rains halt for a bit, we start getting ready to get out just to be rained on the moment we step outside. It's really frustrating.

At least there's the gym. Lily gets to go to the creche and run around and play with other kiddies. Thing it, this week I'm only booked in for two visits, one of which was yesterday, so it's not much freedom for my little monster. I guess I'll take her shopping tomorrow - if we can get to the car without getting drenched.

My back had been steadily getting worse since Easter so I went to see that orthopaedic surgeon again last Friday. Got another costisone infusion done. Damn, I hate needles! Of course now my back is actually worse - as it did last time - which is why I'm going to the gym only twice this week. Tuesday's session made it worse so I'm fearing tomorrow's. I'll try and take it even easier than I did yesterday.

Got some news from my best friend back home. We've been close since primary school and it wasn't all good news. A family friend just passed away. That guy (as well as my friend's dad), I kid you know not, I saw more than I ever saw my  own father back in those years. I hadn't seen him in years now but you know how it is, you go on living thinking they're carrying with their own life happily. It's a blow. He was only 49. You really don't know what's waiting around the corner for you, do you?

What else? Well, the big trip is coming up. We'll be touching down in LA on the 23rd of May. I need to start planning and packing. And getting special requests filled and getting through the food in the fridge and the cupboards. When you go away for nearly 8 weeks, you can't leave much behind. ::sigh:: I don't feel like it. If it wasn 't for my bro's wedding, we wouldn't be doing this... though the thought of escaping this crappy weather makes the whole thing more appealing.

Went to the cinema last night. I wanted to see Nim's Island for my Gerry Butler fix but it wasn't meant to be. Rob preferred risking Street Kings so we did. Hugh Laurie as an IA captain piqued my curiosity enough to agree, I must admit. It was very violent, very graphic but not bad. Just predictable. Very predictable, in fact.

Oh, and I caught a trailer for Iron Man. As a kid, Tony Stark had to be my favourite superhero. As much as I ever got into superheroes, which wasn't very much. I had great difficulty believing anyone walked around in so much Spandex. Anyway, I digress. MY GODS, the trailer SUCKED ASS. It looked like a Ned Kelly remake, damn it! I can't remember much of the original Marvel comic. Maybe that's a good thing because if it was as bad as what the trailer showed Iron Man's origins to be then it's really crushing my kiddy's happy memories...
