Obsolete

Spent the last week looking for a preschool for Lily. Well, it's more of a pre-preschool but still. She's been asking for it. 90 min at the gym's creche a 2-3 times a week was no longer enough. She wanted to stay longer; she wanted to go everyday. So, after visiting four different schools (some preschools and some long daycare/kindergarten centres) and speaking on the phone to some others, we enrolled her in a long day care type place with a school readiness program for two days a week. The real preschools are just from 9 to 3, following the 'big' schools calendar (so closed during school holidays) and are more expensive (the government, for some reason, give hardly any childcare benefit for those). And in case I go back to work, we thought best to have Lily at a place that can accommodate longer hours.

So yeah... ::sigh:: Today was her first day.

Doesn't seem fussed, does she? We were going to do half-days for the first week but I got a call just before midday to tell me all was well and that Lily was asking if she could stay for 'sleep time', which is the quiet time they get shortly after lunch. So there. Mummy no longer required. Please, come back later. LOL

Crack aside, I'm happy her first day went well and she was eager and happy enough to want to stay longer. In the end I picked her up just before three and ended up staying another half hour while they had their afternoon tea.

I'm wondering if tomorrow will go just as smooth...

Since I didn't get to post (or read any of my flist) this past week, I haven't mentioned that we went to see Watchmen on Tuesday. Didn't get to do the IMAX thing - one thing is this preschool business doing is having us tighten our belts! - but it was damn good nonetheless. Even hubby enjoyed. :)
