On this special day

Clickety here, dear Maram

A little message for for her birthday!

I'm sorry it's a little late but timezones and
  toddlers don't mix!

Hope you had a fab day in any case.

  Much love, darl.

Impromptu visit to the Blue Mountains

For Australia Day long weekend, we ended up running for a retreat to the mountains.

The place we went to last time with my mom e-mailed us Thursday afternoon to let us know their place was still free and that we could have it at a discounted price. Since Rob's parents wanted to see the Blue Mountains again during their visit, we thought best to snatch that deal. But that meant leaving pretty much without planning the next morning. Rob had to go to work and I had to pack us all up for the trip and drive us there. A bit of a mad dash, if you ask me, but we made it. :) Rob joined us in the evening by train.

I was knackered but it was worth it. (Plus we had heard through the grapevine that the twits two houses down from her were going to throw a party for Australia Day (26th) so we really didn't want to be around for that.) The weather is dryer and a little cooler up there so we slept very well. Now that we're back and still sweating like idiots past 10pm, I wish we'd had an extra night.

Sorry for disappearing on you but didn't get the time to warn anyone online and up there there's no net access. Hope you all had a good weekend.

And, as seen on :

As seen on <lj user="Alassante">'s LJ...

1. If your doctor told you TODAY that you were pregnant, what would you say?

Oops, I've done it again. (Actually, today it would take one hell of a mirable considering where I'm at in my cycle...)

2. Do you trust all of your friends?

Most.

3. Would you move to another state or country to be with the one you love?

Been there. Done that. Bought the t-shirt.

4. Do you believe that everything that happens happens for a reason?

I sure hope so or God's got one sick sense of humour.

5. Can you make a pound in change right now?

Probably got enough lying around, yes.

6. Which one of your friends do you think would make the best doctor?

Wow, that's a weird question. None of my friends are doctors to think of it, but of everyone in the gang back in high school, I would say Julie L. could have pulled it off. She ended going into Biology but not Med school.

7. Are you afraid of falling in love?

Already am. In love, that is.

8. How many cars are on your drive?

None. My car is parked up front.

9. Is there someone who pops into your mind at random times?

Sure.

10. What’s your most favourite scar?

I used to have a nice one on my right knee. Favourite back in primary school because it told other kids they didn't really want to mess with me. :) Not showing anymore though. Faded. Gone.

11. When was the last time you flew in a plane?

2007.

12. What did the last text message you sent say and who to?

I have no idea. I very rarely text anyone. Chances are it was to  or Mirr when she came to visit me. Something like, 'How was your flight back?' or something.

13. What features do you find most attractive in the preferred sex?

Eyes, sense of humour, ass... someone you can have an intelligent conversation with, someone who's not afraid to laugh at themselves.

14. Fill in the blank. I love___________

CHOCOLATE.

15. What is a goal you would like to accomplish in the near future?

Getting back to writing.

16. Do you ever disobey your parents?

Like now? My mom knows better than to tell me to do something. If it pisses me off she knows I'll be doing the exact opposite. As a kid, because she was a single parent with three monsters, I tended to listen to her more... to give her a break because my brothers sure as hell didn't.

17. How many kids do you want to have?

Still trying to figure out if I want a second one.

18. Would you make a good parent?

Jury's still out on that.

19. Where was your default picture taken?

Stolen from a microbrewery back in Quebec. It's an illustration of La Chasse-galerie, which is the story behind one of their beers - La Maudite.

20. What’s your middle name?

Juliette.

21. Honestly, what’s on your mind right now?

I wish I didn't have to stop browsing the net to go start dinner, that's what. :) And also the whole Heath Ledger thing. That hasn't left my mind all day.

22. If you could go back in time and change something, what would it be?

Wow. Ever watched Journeyman? Messing up with the pass can have dire consequences in your future, things you might not want to see changing. Honestly, if I had the assurance that me changing something wouldn't affect anything else, I'd go with staying fit. Never giving up volleyball and whitewater rafting.

23. Who was or will be the maid of honour/best man at your wedding?

 was.

24. What are you wearing right now?

Gym pants and a sleeveless top.

25. Righty or Lefty?

Righty.

26. Best place to eat?

Around these parts? French restaurant Larousse.

27. Favourite jeans?

Used to be Levi's but I'm not so bothered anymore. I tend to like the Urbane ones.

28. Favourite animal?

Cats.

29. Favourite juice?

Apple and cranberry

30. Have you had the chicken pox?

Yep.

31. Have you had a sore throat?

Is there actually someone on this planet who's never ever had a sore throat?

32. Ever had a bar fight?

ehhh not exactly <- what said.

33. Who knows you the best?

Probably my husband and .

34. Shoe size?

9.

35. Do you wear contact lenses or glasses?

Both but prefer contacts.

36. Ever been in a fight with your pet?

Not the current pets, no.

37. Been to Mexico?

Nope.

38. Did you buy something today?

Nothing, unless you count paying for parking buying.

39. Did you get sick today?

Nope.

40. Do you miss someone today?

Yep.

41. Did you get in a fight with someone today?

Not yet and hopefully won't.

42. When is the last time you had a massage?

Around October last year at my osteopath.

43. Last person to lay in your bed?

My husband.

44. Last person to see you cry?

Hmm, no sure someone noticed.

45. Who made you cry?

It was 'what' actually - a play.

46. What was the last TV show you watched?

Journeyman.

47. What are your plans for the weekend?

Keeping the in-laws happy. What a plan indeed.

48. Who do you think will repost this?

Have no idea. Maybe .

49. Who was the last person you hung out with?

That would be my husband.

So sad

Rest In Peace, Heath LedgerWoke up this morning and got ready to go pick up the in-laws at the airport. Strap baby in the car, get in myself and start the engine. And what comes up on the radio?

Heath Ledger is dead.

28 years old.

So sad.

My thoughts are with his family.

An alternative?

LiveJournal. What can we expect? With all the changes, will it remain what it's been? And if not, where are people planning to flee en masse to?

I'd like to know so I can get ready, you see. :)

GreatestJournal, which was an alternative following LJ's horrendous strikethrough mess, is no longer an option. So, InsaneJournal? You can still get a pemanent account for very little, so if that's where we'll all end up, I'd like to know so I can get one before they pull it, which, I believe, they're planning on doing in Feb.

Let me know what you guys think.

I'd very much prefer a place similar to what LJ's been offering so MySpace and Facebook and Blogger don't really cut it.
