What to say? It's been a week of finales on TV and deaths... Trip on Ent, Rex on DH, Caitlin on NCIS... I'm really gutted. There are few shows keeping my attention these days and I guess I'm now two down come next season.
Sad to be so hooked on some TV shows? Of course. It's cheaper than cinema (let's face it, not much to go see at the mo anyway) and better than romance novels. Oh, yeah. Because even the most 'cold' shows, a la CSI, are now injecting more personal twists from their characters into the mix... so drama, romance/UST abounds. Others have always been about the characters and not the investigations or the cases they handle, like ER. NCIS was a nice mix of both, with the chemistry and repartee amongst the characters the best thing about it. Now that they've killed off a strong female character, one that played so well against both DiNozzo and Gibbs, I don't know what direction the show will be taking. It will certainly change the interactions and I'm not sure it'll be for the best. Desperate Housewives on the other hand is one of those shows you can't take seriously but you'll tune in just to watch how dysfunctional they all are. With Bree and Rex being the most interesting couple given their dynamics, I really think Cherry shot himself in the foot by writing Rex out. And what is it with this actor anyway? Steven Culp always ends up the dead guy. Even died twice on two different shows in the same week! Gotta be a record. As Webb on JAG, a couple of times at least for season enders, showing up again the following year, and on Enterprise, in such a whimpy, low and weak death for Major Hayes, it was laughable. But given how they actually ended that series, Hayes probably got a better death than Tucker and the TV franchise itself.
Anyway, better step off my box for now and hope Lost won't fuck us around with their finale.
In other news, just got back from a trip up the coast. No, not the one I wanted to do but a little, shorter one that will have to be enough as a subsitute for now. Spent a few days driving up to Surfers Paradise/Brisbane end of last week, stopping in Coffs Harbour on the way. Flew back Tuesday afternoon in time to taxi home, pick up my car and get my ass to work. Wasn't as restful as I'd hoped but it was a nice change of scenery.
Coming up Friday is *the* ultrasound everyone has been waiting for. Hubby is really keen on finding out the gender of this alien I'm carrying so hopefully we'll get a clear view.
Alright, this has been long enough. Happy June for everyone, and even the lucky bastards up in the northern hemisphere who are being treated to the arrival of Summer. :)
Oh, and Maram, hope all is well in Germany. Give us some news, will you?
Ciao!
