Kick back and watch

Managed to find some time today to sit and watch a movie - two, in fact. 

Lily was asleep, the in-laws were resting, and I couldn't be bothered to run around in this heat no more. And later on tonight, when Rob came home, I convinced him to go to the movies. In-laws babysat for us and off we went. You don't what how a big screen, good sound system and air-conditioning can do to my mood!

We went to see Cloverfield. I had seen the trailer a couple of times at the cinema and I have to admit it grabbed me. I was hesitant, however, because of the handheld camcorder type of shoot, à la Blair Witch. Turns out it's a little hard to begin with but it gets easier. I totally loved the sound design - and lack of score and/or music soundtrack. Can't say I really connected with the main cast but what a ride. Very good special effects without being the main thing about the movie.

Saw this one a couple of weeks ago and I forgot to mention it. Really powerful. Not totally original unfortunately (if you've seen 28 Days Later) but well worth it. I just loved that cameo by Emma Thompson.

's post of a video a few days ago, I went on the hunt to find this little gem of British telemovies. A pearl it is not but it was so funny to treck back nearly 20 years to watch Clive Owen, Caroline Quentin, Martin Clunes and Paul Merton dick around in Ibiza. That's what I did this afternoon and I am not ashamed. :D
