Weeeee!

Went shopping last night, despite the big warnings from the authorites to stay out of Sydney's CBD if you were planning to take a car in, and boy was it worth it! :D

I was picking up a little kitchen thing for Lily's birthday (it was like 70% off) when we passed Dick Smith Electronics. Couldn't resist of course, hubby being the gadget man that he is, and while he was looking for a BIG mouse (long story - don't ask), I found the DVD section. Well... there was some crazy sale going and we picked up the first three seasons of House for $15.48 each, the first two seasons of BSG for $19.48 and the complete original series of Battlestar Galactica circa 1978-9 for the same. Six boxsets for $105. I'm over the moon. :D They had more, but more along the lines of $29.48 and up and hubby was giving me the evil eye. Wouldn't have minded getting Supernatural and NCIS... though NCIS wasn't such a good deal.

Been doing some gardening today. It's a mess out there. Leaving it for over two months does that, I guess. Need to get it tidy before the end of winter. It's already overgrown and it's only going to get worse come Spring.

Okay, because I think Steven Culp is a superb actor I, once in a while, will download episodes of shows in which he's guest-starred. Anyone here watched Saving Grace? I haven't watched that 2nd season opener yet (the one with SC) but I've sort of glimpsed through the file to make sure it ran fine. Boy, does Holly Hunter look like a drug addict/anorexic. I swear, she's all skin and bones. A quick look and you'd think you just saw Iggy Pop with long hair. ;) Anyway, not a very good example to set for the teenage girls out there.

Also I've heard of a couple of new shows... a BBC production called Bonekickers, written by the Life on Mars and Ashes to Ashes peeps, and an American show called The Cleaner, with Benjamin Bratt. Anyone seen those?

And on a catty note, at the risk of being pelted with tomatoes and rotten eggs, I can't wait for this World Youth Day to end. You should have seen the popemobile wizz around downtown yesterday. I don't think many pilgrims got to see him breaking the sound barrier and all.

Oh, I'm babysitting tonight. One of the ladies from my mothers group needs a break. Her son B is Lily's age (a month or two older) but she's also got a little one! C is barely 5 months old. Yikes. Does one remember how to do it when thrown back in the water?
