But there's no denying the fact it came and went; we're freezing now! Snow in Victoria and in the mountains here in New South Wales. Brrr! Not that it's anything as cold as what I grew up with in Canada but still...
The Swine Flu is scary stuff. They're stopping people at the boarders here, screening flights, etc. And amazingly (or not so amazingly), some jerks are trying to cash in on it. WTF?
Easter break was good. I hope you all enjoyed it in some fashion. Our camping destination was lovely and the weather was sunny and warm - as it turned out, it was our last warm weekend too. It's been rather cold and windy since. Did anyone struggle explaining to their young children what Easter is about? Lily wanted to know and I'm not sure she's quite ready for Christ resurrecting and, if she was, I don't know how I'd explain how the Easter bunny and egg hunts fit in. (She's still asking me if Baby J wants a birthday cake next Chirstmas...)
Besides, when I look at what happened in L'Aquila or being reminded of the Rwanda atrocities, I'm not sure I still believe in God. Don't get me wrong, I'm not against the Candles for Rwanda initiative. It just brings to mind the eternal question of how could God let His children suffer so. One million children, women and men slaughtered. And that's just 1994 in Rwanda. Anyone remember the XTC song 'Dear God'? When I heard it for the first time as a teenager, it was like I finally heard someone put to words how I'd been feeling for years. I also know the usual reply to that question, that God gave us freewill, but still... religion was spread, written and translated by men and wars are still waged for it. Is it worth it? Wow. A bit too heavy for a stormy Thursday, huh?
Rob's been working on Wolverine's website and because of that he got invited - with guest - to an advanced screening of X-Men Origins: Wolverine last Monday. I was the guest - yay - and I got to tell you, it's the best of all the X-Men movies.
Some movie critics find nothing bad to say about the movie but are actually panning Jackman's acting but I think they just fail at realising what playing Wolverine means. Anyway, I enjoyed Liev Shreiber in that. One track mind and all. I know a lot of folks wanted Sawyer (from Lost, played by Josh Holloway) for Gambit's role but I think the guy they got worked. Although Sawyer might have managed to make him dirtier... :)
Same night, at the same cinema complex in downtown Sydney, they were also having an advanced screening for Star Trek. While I can't wait to see Star Trek, I think I'm happy to have been there for Wolverine. Anyway, it got really busy and the following morning, we were both surprised to see that the Sydney Morning Herald had a little blurb about it. And yes, Margaret from At The Movies is really that short and tiny!
That's it from me. Gotta to go back to my laundry now that the latest storm has passed. It felt like a deluge earlier.
Hope you're all well. x
